Jane W. Blackerby, Director and Lead Teacher, Older Room

Jane received her degrees from Virginia Tech in 1996.  She has undergraduate work in Early Elementary Education from Salem College.  Jane has lived in Lexington her entire life and is married with two daughters, ages 10 and 7, and two step-sons, ages 10 and 8, who all graduated from The Children’s School.
 

Jane is beginning her third year as Director and seventh year as a teacher at The Children’s School.  She attends Grace Episcopal Church.

Carolyn Wolfe, Assistant Teacher, Older Room

Carolyn graduated from Clemson University with a BA in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education.  Carolyn has lived in Lexington since 1985 and is married with three children, ages 20, 16, and 15.  All of her children are past graduates of The Children’s School. 

This is Carolyn’s eighth year teaching at The Children’s School.  She attends Grace Episcopal Church.

 

Karen Carrickhoff, Teacher, Younger Children and Transitional Class

 Karen graduated from the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill, in 1974 with a BA in Early Childhood Education, and has lived in Lexington for 33 years.  She taught Kindergarten at Welcome Elementary School and retired at the end of 2010 with 20 years of Kindergarten experience.  Karen is a member of First Presbyterian Church where she has taught 3–, 4- & 5-year olds Sunday School for over 10 years.  She has three children (one is a graduate of The Children’s School) and two grandchildren, ages 11 and 1-1/2.
 

 Karen began her career at The Children’s School in January of 2011 and we look forward to her “first year” with us.
