Private Music Lessons

 

Tuitions may be paid by semester or in equal monthly payments.
Tuitions shown are for one 30 minute lesson per week.  Check with Academy Director for information about 45 or 60 minute lessons. 

Contact Academy Director to arrange lesson time.
Tuition for private music lessons does not include printed materials.  Students may buy books and sheet music through the Academy or from any retail outlet.  Your instructor will let you know what books, etc. you will need.

Painting for Young Artists (3rd and 4th grades)
Class Size: 2-4 students
Class Time: Mondays, 3:30-4:30 pm  (September 15 – December 15)
Semester Tuition: $350.00 (supplies are included in tuition cost)
Tuition payable by semester or equal monthly payments
Semester Registration Fee (non-refundable): $15.00

Students will be encouraged to experiment with a variety of painting tools (brush, palette knife, sponge, fingers, etc.), gain knowledge of the color wheel by mixing their own colors using only the primary colors plus white and black acrylic paints, and work on a variety of bases (paper, cardboard and canvas).

Inspiration for painting will come from: viewing artwork of the masters (such a Monet, Picasso, Kandinsky, etc.), listening to a variety of music, principals of design and the student's own imagination.

  ORGANIC JEWELRY –
Beaded Necklace, Bracelet and Earrings
 

Create your own one-of-a-kind jewelry using polymer clay, coffee, spices and wooden beads.   All supplies and tools are provided: clay for beads, secondary beads, jewelry tools, beading wire, crimp beads, clasps, etc.  Earring wires are sterling.  Necklace and bracelet clasps are pewter toggle clasps.  If you want sterling silver clasps, you need to provide your own.

Classes meet for an hour and a half.
Tuesday, Sept. 16, 23, 30 at 10 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.

Class One:  Bead making

Students learn to make their own faux stone beads using polymer clay mixed with dry coffee and spices.   Different techniques will be demonstrated. 

1)    Condition all clay following manufacturer’s directions.

2)    Make brown, turquoise and tan beads. 

Class Two:  Necklace

Principles of jewelry design will be discussed.  Directions provided for a beading process that is easy and fun.

1)    Attach one end of your toggle clasp to the wire using a crimp bead. 

2)    String beads alternating colors and sizes.

3)    Finish by addition of other end of toggle clasp. 

Class Three:  Bracelet and Earrings

1)    Bracelet is made using same procedure as necklace.

2)    Earrings – Place headpin through clay bead, add secondary bead, close loop and hook through earring wire.

    BEAD MAKING 

Polymer clay is a versatile material, easy to work with, and perfect for making jewelry.  Four different styles of bead-making will be covered in these classes.  Students will learn techniques for making elegant faux ivory and cinnabar, a cheerful heart pendant, and intricate cane work.

Crèche design for children (grades 1-3)

Minimum enrollment – 3 children & 3 adults
Enrollment limit – 6 children & 6 adults
Class length – one hour
Monday afternoons: October 6, 13, 20 at 4-5 P.M.
Class fee:  $75
The fee covers both parent and child and Includes all supplies.  If the parent wants to make their own crèche,  an additional supply fee of $10 will be charged. 

Registration fee: $5.00 for each child, $5.00 accompanying adult

These classes are designed for the parent (or grandparent) and child to work together to create a unique crèche scene.   

Parents and children will receive step-by-step instructions on using polymer clay to make a crèche scene.  Polymer clay is an easy art medium for young children to use and comes in a variety of rich colors.   Children will choose the colors for their crèche figures and make their own clay sculptures.   

Parents will need to bake the completed figures at home.  Instruction sheets will be provided.  The clay figures bake for 30 minutes at 275 degrees and then need to cool completely.
